This is a shot I have wanted to do since I started my 365, but until I got an flash I could use off camera I was unable to get the effect. However having got one of those for my birthday I put it to good use. I bought some Joss Sticks and setup the shot to how I thought it would need to be setup to get a good shot. I had some black cloth and placed the Joss stick at the bottom of the cloth so the smoke could rise. However I was getting reflections from the cloth in the shot that was drowning out the smoke. So I removed the cloth and then with the camera on F29 and the shutter speed at 1000/s I started taking shots. WIth no cloth there all I had was a white wall behind and that made it very hard to see the smoke. About 130 shot’s later I had this one. I got some others but this was the best of the lot. I did very little to this barring upping the highlights a wee bit in lightroom. I did then do some Post processing to see what effects I could do with the shot. This was the result.
